"Don't you just love poetry that gives you a crinkly feeling up and down your back?"
-Anne of Green Gables
Yes.
or pictures that might as well be poetry.
The kind of pictures that words just cannot express.
The kind of pictures that make you love the whole world, if only for a little while.
I do love that type of poetry.
I'm sorry that I haven't been posting much,
my days have been full of all of the lovely things that come with autumn.
Like Apple-picking, and apple butter.
Like music by Iron and Wine playing softly in the background with the sound of the falling rain and rustling leaves to accompany it.
Like playing football with your family, and watching football with your friends.
Like finding the most gorgeous leaf you've ever seen.
Like baking apple tarts for a second breakfast in true hobbit style, in celebration of the 75th Anniversary of Lord of the Rings and also Bilbo and Frodo's birthday.
Like picking the last of the flowers and bringing them in to sit in mason jars around the house.
Like the amaranth, and cosmos, and zinnia, and black-eyed susans, and sedum, and rosemary.
Like the very soul of autumn -my very favorite time of year- put into words.
I really do love autumn,
don't you?
This post is perfectly lovely, my dear! Another quote from Anne is when she talks about how poetry is not always words but the soul of a scene. Great quote to start off with! All of those things sound just wonderful, especially the mason jars with flowers.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Emily.
Oh! Could you send me that quote?
ReplyDeleteAlso, I wrote your letter :) now I just have to make it to buy (or make) an envelope, because ours have all gone strangely missing.
